Wolves in the City Test Pieces -- Homages to Mattotti

These drawings were made as test pieces for Wolves in the City, using Stabilo 8046 pencils on grained glass. Prior to doing these drawings, I had only worked with the medium on a very small scale. These drawings are 12" x 16" and proved to me that I could expand the scale without losing any clarity, in fact, it helped the work become more dramatic. Those familiar with the work of the great Lorenzo Mattotti will recognize that I am paying homage to his brilliant design sense.
